Resources for Finding Godly Entertainment

Over the past few months, I have written about the importance of choosing Godly entertainment and how to find Godly entertainment. One person’s comment on the latter article gave me the idea to do a post about some of the resources available to help with finding Godly entertainment.

There are all sorts of review sites out there, but not many of them look at entertainment from a Christian perspective, and even fewer offer any sort of a content overview to help choose your entertainment wisely.

Here are the review sites I’ve come across so far that focus on the content and in some cases the worldview of entertainment. It is worth noting that some of the content review sites give too much detail in their descriptions of the immorality that is contained in the entertainment, so it is recommended that only adults use these resources.

Plugged In is a very useful Christian site that reviews much new entertainment as it is released. Some of their older reviews are a bit vague, and occasionally some of their newer reviews will also be vague, but generally they have thorough content and worldview reviews.

Plugged In reviews movies in theaters

Movies in general

Songs and CDs

Television shows

And video games

A site related to Plugged In also has book reviews

Kids In Mind is a movie review site that gives content overviews which vary from fairly accurate to just rough overviews.

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has a parents guide on some movies. To view it, search for a movie, then scroll down to where it says Parents Guide and click on the “View content advisory” link. The reviews are not entirely accurate, but they give a general idea.

All content review sites should be used with a grain of salt due to how some reviewers (especially secular reviewers) may miss things or perceive things differently. However, they are still beneficial in making wise entertainment choices.

Are there are any additional resources that you’ve found helpful? If so, please comment and post a link.

    1. Oh, I meant to mention that www.intothebook.net is also a good source of Christian reviews for books. ;)

    2. Yes, I agree. :) I just didn't put it on the list because the reviews don't tend to give a full content overview.

  3. Great resources! I typically use PluggedIn myself. I generally just read the "negative" content sections and that gives me a good idea of whether or not anything in there is unacceptable or "too much" (such as in regards to violence). I didn't know they did video games... good to know!
